  • About Us: We are a 6 person  team of climbers representing China, England, Nepal, and the United States. There are 14 peaks in the world higher than 8,000 meters and our team members have now reached the summits of 7 of them:  Mt. Everest, K2, Kangchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, and Gasherbrum 1. A climbing magazine named one of our members "Great Britain's reigning mountaineer", and another: "the most successful American to ever mount an expedition".  Our expeditions have been featured on television, and throughout the world wide web. We have published accounts of our climbs, with photographs, in a variety of print media.    return to menu

WILD THINGS

  • Our Goal. In March, 2003, we plan to ascend a 7,885 metre peak: "East Pinnacle", just near to Manaslu, the 8th highest mountain in the world.  return to menu

  • Is it Possible? Our record of ascending new routes is consistent. Not only have we made first lightweight-style ascents on K2, Kangchenjunga, and Makalu, but in July 2000, we climbed a virgin route on 7546 metre high Mustagh Ata, near to K2. It was dangerous, attracted media attention, and a few million visitors when it was covered on the internet website: Mountainzone.com.                  return to menu

On the east ridge of Mustagh Ata, a new route on a 7500 metre peak that we climbed in July of 2000, Walter Keller (Pittsburgh) belays, while Jon Otto (Chengdu, China) leads hard ice at 7100 metres, and a blizzard rages. All equipment is provided by sponsors, including Patagonia, Serratus, OR, Jandd, Dermatone, Edelrid, and Black Diamond. Photographer: D. L. Mazur, Copyright: www.mountainzone.com

  • What We Can Do For YOU.  Below you will find the range of services we continue to provide to our sponsors, since 1991, as a way of showing our appreciation:

Scott Barylski climbing in the K2 region. Scott's screen printing company, Custom Casuals, provided embroidery and t-shirts for our team, who eventually wore  these logos on all 7 continents. Custom Casuals can expertly embroider and screen-print your logo on nearly any garment, tent, or sleeping bag, to ensure your product or service receives the media exposure you require. D.L. • Endorsement of your product, lending an important "stamp of approval" to your company's name. Our recent endorsements have appeared in 2 catalogues and one magazine advertisement during 2000.       return to menu

  • Charity: While approaching basecamp, we encounter a variety of people and environments. We try to help where we can, and tread lightly.          return to menu

Please visit our "Charity" page to learn about some of the fine groups we raise money for.

  • Our Sponsorship Needs fall into three broad areas:

  • Equipment + Supplies Services,  and  Financial

  • 1. Equipment and Supplies. It takes an enormous amount of equipment and supplies to climb an Himalayan mountain. We rely on generous and supportive sponsors to provide our most crucial items.       return to menu

Every piece of equipment, fuel, or food you provide is carried up the mountain on our backs, and, as in this photo of Jon Pratt from Essex, back down to basecamp. Photo: D.L. Mazur... Please visit our equipment page to learn about the vast array of equipment we need for our expeditions.

  • 2. Services. We use travel, recruitment, communication, medical, and media services in abundance. We depend on the the generosity of professionals and suppliers to accomplish our goals.

Murari Sharma, our agent since 1991, at the Ministry of Tourism, where mountain climbing permits are issued. These are just a few of the people we have to pay, and provide gifts to, when we arrange a climbing permit. Photo: D.L. Mazur

  • 3. Financial. Our climbing team members pay their own way, but still we seek donations to offset our permit and logistical costs, especially when there are complex media and promotional efforts at stake.

Porters carrying our equipment to K2. These chaps are hungry, and we feed them well. In addition to their daily wages, they receive equipment money. Its an 11 day trek to basecamp, and in those eleven days, they earn enough to feed their families for 5 months. Its an expensive proposition to carry a full multi-media setup to such a remote area.
