2 Corinthians 1:3-11(New Living Translation, Adapted by Deanna
Harris)
"All praise to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. He is the
source of every mercy and the God who comforts me. He comforts me in all
my troubles so that I can comfort others. When others are troubled, I
will be able to give them the same comfort God has given me. I can be
sure that the more I suffer for Christ, the more God will shower me with
this comfort through Christ. So when I am weighted down with troubles,
it is for their benefit and salvation! For when God comforts me, it is
so that I in turn, an be an encouragement to others. Then they can
patiently endure the same things I suffer. I am confident that as I share
in suffering, I will also share God's comfort.
I think you ought to know, dear brothers and sisters, about the
trouble
I went through on the highway in Wisdom. I was crushed and completely
overwhelmed, and I thought I would never live through it. In fact, I
expected to die. But as a result, I learned not to rely on myself, but
on
God who can raise the dead. And he did deliver me from mortal danger.
And I am confident that he will continue to deliver me. He will rescue
me. As a result, many will give thanks to God because so many people's
prayers for my safety have been answered." (2 Cor. 1:3-11 NLT, adapted
by Deanna Harris) Also a personal note from Becky:
"Thank you all for your love and prayers, cards and flowers! Your
prayers mean so much to me right now. I'm feeling encouraged by the
Doctor's prognosis for me. After my first exam I asked him if I would walk, and
he said with certainty, "Yes you will walk!" What an amazing phrase to
hear! "Praise God!"
